Ndokwa, Delta – In a significant relief effort, flood victims in Delta North, Nigeria, received essential supplies on Friday, September 12, 2025, marking a crucial step towards restoring hope and rebuilding lives in the region.

Senator (Dr.) Prince Ned Nwoko announced the distribution of relief materials, a collaborative initiative between the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Delta State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

The relief operation was a direct response to Senator Nwoko's appeal to NEMA in July 2025, following devastating floods that submerged farmlands, destroyed homes, and displaced many residents in Ndokwa East Local Government Area and surrounding communities.

The senator's intervention came after torrential rains earlier in the year left communities in despair, with livelihoods lost and families exposed to hunger and hardship.

NEMA, under the leadership of Director-General Mrs. Zubaida Umar, conducted an on-ground assessment and, upon Federal Government approval, mobilized substantial relief items.

The distribution was carried out under strict supervision to ensure fairness and transparency, with logistics support from the Delta State Government.

Senator Nwoko was represented by Agape Fashanu at the event, where residents gathered in large numbers, their hope visibly renewed.

The relief package included:

– 300 bags of parboiled rice (25kg each)

– 300 bags of garri (25kg each)

– 300 cartons of spaghetti (500g × 20)

– 30 cartons of vegetable oil (5L × 4)

– 30 cartons of tomato paste (50 × sachet)

– 30 cartons of seasoning cubes

– 20 bags of iodized salt

These supplies, though basic, represented a lifeline for displaced families, restoring dignity and reassurance that they are not forgotten.

Senator Nwoko expressed gratitude to Mrs. Umar and the Delta State Government for their swift response and partnership, emphasizing that this intervention is a testament to effective representation.

"This is more than just a relief distribution," Senator Nwoko stated, adding, "It is proof of what representation means to me. Representation is not about making promises; it is about taking action. It is about standing with you in difficult times, ensuring that the arm of the Federal Government reaches our communities when it matters most."

The senator assured the people of Delta North that this is only the beginning, pledging to leverage his office in the Senate to bring more interventions, development, and opportunities to the region.

He reiterated his commitment to overcoming disasters, rebuilding livelihoods, and restoring confidence in a brighter future for Anioma land.

The relief effort comes against the backdrop of ongoing challenges in Delta North, where communities have been grappling with the aftermath of floods that have repeatedly devastated the area.

Recent reports highlight the grave living conditions in Ndokwa East, with calls for urgent government intervention to address multidimensional environmental and economic challenges.

As Delta North begins to recover, this collaborative effort between federal and state agencies, spearheaded by Senator Nwoko, offers a glimmer of hope. It underscores the importance of proactive leadership and coordinated response in times of crisis, setting a precedent for future disaster management in Nigeria.

For now, the focus remains on rebuilding, with the resilience of the people of Delta North shining through as they receive much-needed support to rise above the challenges they face.
